How do you make a flip videos mic sound better?

I love singing and i want to make a video and put it on youtube of me singing but everytime i sing to my flip video the sound comes out super loud and over powering when i hit the high notes. Could it be the room im in (my bedroom) which causes this overpowering echo sound? should i sing in my kitchen where the walls are more separated so that the sound doesnt echo off the walls as much? or shud i put a filter or something on the mic of my flip video?
