How to kickflip, im having trouble?

i need help on flipping the board. when i flick at the concave on my plan b deck it either rockets forward or it only spins a little. I need help learning how to flick my ankle. I don't think its my shoes because i have Nike mavrk low top skate shoes. i need a step by step tutorial on how to do it and i need to know how and when to flick my ankle to get the spin
