Was it a "wrong" thing for me to give my daughter a buzz cut?

Ok. My daughter who turned 4 a month ago always complains about her hair getting sweaty and sticky. And i was talking ti a friend at work and she said she gave her daughter a buzz cut for the same reason. So I asked her if it was ok and she said sure so I gave her a 3/8" buzz cut. And her hair was to her shoulders before the buzz cut. And she told me she liked the look of her long hair better but she like the way the buzz cut felt. So then my wife came home and started flipping out and said that was a horrible thing to do to her. But my daugter does like it and it will be longer when preschool starts and she not even at that age where girls kill themselves over hair. so was this a wrong thing to do or not?
