Why doesn't my Flip video connect to my Mac anymore?

Last night, I tried to hook up my Flip to my Mac to charge and it would disconnect without my taking it out. I left it alone for the night and now when I plug it in, the light doesn't even come on and I absolutely can't get any video off of it? It's really important that I get this fixed today; this is unbelievably in convenient. I don't know what could have happened.
