I know I'm to pushy ... But is he being a jerk?

Recently, I was texting my guy friend, 'Mitchell.' We've known each other for almost 2 years. I was recently texting him and tried to start a casual, conversation like, "Hey, what's up..." The conversation later on got really awkward, and boring. I didn't want it to be boring cause' i was already bored lol. So anyway I had asked him, "Hows' life"? He had replied, "Bad, Wbu?" I asked him why it was bad and he refused to tell me. I had become to get upset because I had told him everything about me and all of my feelings, concerns, everything. I pushed him into telling me what was wrong. (I know I was being pushy) So he had told me it was about this girl named Lya. We don't go to the same school so I don't know who this girl is; Or anything about her. He had told me about this recent story about a girl named Lya, but i didn't quit know the name, so i simply asked him, "Is it that girl that moved to the Filipins?" And he started acting like a jerk in my opinion he had told me, "I don't have time for you." and started making me feel bad. I hadn't seen him act this way. I was at my friends house so she had gave him an earful, but i didn't want her too. Do you think I'm the bad-guy/ jerk or is it him? I know i was being pushy.
